Vintage Beatles Albums – What Are They Worth?

Ranked #6 in Music, #116 overall

Do you love the Beatles?

To this day I remember buying my first Beatles album. I was twelve that year and motivated by peer pressure to start a collection.

I'd seen the Beatles on Ed Sullivan's TV show - my entire family watched both performances, enraptured. I'm so glad I didn't miss those two shows! The introduction of the Beatles to the USA was was definitely a turning point in history.

My father said I could have ONE album, and of course, I wanted them all. It was so hard to make that decision. Would it be Meet the Beatles, Introducing the Beatles, or The Beatles Second Album. That was all that was available.

I chose Introducing the Beatles, took it home, and fell in love with every song they recorded. The Beatles entertained me then. They entertained my children, and now, nearly fifty years later, they entertain us all still.

Introducing The Beatles - 1963

Early Beatles singing mostly songs that were written by others.

This was my first Beatles album. I remember standing in the Montgomery Ward store in Richmond California in front of a bin filled with Beatles albums. My father had promised to buy me one, and one only. I didn't know which one to buy! There were a couple different options, but this is what I got - and I loved it. A few of my favorite tunes are Anna, Chains, and Boys. Their songs, I Saw Her Standing There and Please, Please Me, are of course, top-notch.

Released in the UK with the title, Please Please Me.

Thanks for visiting this page about vintage Beatles Albums....

I still have a lot of the original albums I bought back then, and I won't be selling them - I'll give them to my daughter, who is also a Beatles fan..

Yes, in case you're wondering... I was a Beatles fan in the sixties. From the time I heard about them, when I was eleven, I was obsessed. I saw them in 1966 in San Francisco's Cow Palace.

So, what do you think of the Beatles? Your comments are welcome...

I became a Beatlemaniac in the early 70's when I was 9 yr. old. I was OBSESSED and hoped to marry Paul one day! Little girls have BIG imaginations. I collected the records from thrift shops & even managed a damaged Meat Cover. It was interesting to see the values and revisit the playlists. It's different, listening on my iPod. I miss vinyl sometimes. Very nicely done article
  • QuiltFinger Apr 10, 2014 @ 12:26 pm
WOW. Who knew these old albums were so valuable?! I just started linking the Beatles in the past few years (I know!). I really love their tracks, especially on the Meet the Beatles. They are so classic. I also love the far-out, psychedelic songs too.
  • Gloriousconfusion Feb 22, 2014 @ 5:10 am
Lots of great information - I am now featuring it on my lens Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - Iconic Cover
  • gnomepark Jan 23, 2014 @ 3:45 pm
To actually live and observe the band through that time period was magical. For those who didn't, it's a bit like explaining what air tastes like when you breath.
  • IanTease Jan 21, 2014 @ 6:51 pm
Great lens for answering a question I'd often wondered about. Having read through this fab lens I'll be singing Maxwell's silver hammer the rest of the day now, not that i mind that.
  • WordChipper Jan 14, 2014 @ 2:44 pm
What an excellent lens! I used to listen to a lot of the Beatles when I was growing up.
  • sierradawn Jan 10, 2014 @ 10:06 pm
The choices in your polls were too hard to select from, as I love everything the Beatles have ever done. I too remember the days they first shook the world. I would call your lens the definitive work on Beatle Albums! Love it!
  • CarolHoule Nov 24, 2013 @ 1:38 pm
Congrats on your first published novel. I have published 7 myself since 2010. Check out my lens Self Publishing to see how I succeeded. Very nice Beatles lens. I chose The Magical Mystery Tour, but in reality all Beatles albums are my favorites!
  • Nov 15, 2013 @ 7:20 pm
I didn't know much about the Beatles as a group. I began to take an interest maybe 15 or 20 years ago. Paul is my favorite. Maybe "favorite" isn't the right word. I guess the better word would be "familiar" because he's still around and rockin' it. His collaborations with Michael Jackson were outstanding and he continues to impress me to this day.

    Thanks for sharing this.

I couldn't bear to part with my Beatles albums, even though I rarely listen to them any more because it's so much easier to put a CD on or listen to an MP3. Sometimes I just need to hear the vinyl, even with the scratches.

Wow, some of these brought back some memories. I was a second generation Beatles fan in the 1980s when I couldn't stop playing their music, and when I was learning guitar myself.
  • TheLittleCardShop Jan 24, 2013 @ 6:05 pm

I saw them when they played Red Rocks in Denver. I can remember that the tickets were the unheard of price of $6.60! Great lens by the way, they were truly the most influential band of the last 100 years for how they changed Rock and Roll and influence music even today.

Hi I blog often and I truly appreciate your content.
This great lens has truly peaked my interest.
Reading this will surely bring us back to the good
old days when three guitars and one drum is enough
    to make great music.
Question : Were you one of the screaming teenagers
following the group around in San Francisco .
  • LindaJM Jan 23, 2013 @ 4:23 pm
I tried screaming but it seemed kind of silly, so I soon gave up the idea... LOL.

I had forgotten about so many of their songs. Like most kids growing up we had our favorites. A friend of mine had everything the Beatles ever did, she even had the White Album. When we were in England we got to see much of the Beatles tour things. We were trying to get to the cave, when we saw the Magical Mystery Tour Bus. What fun having the police show us around. Everyone was so great and kind to us.

Such a shame John and George are no longer with us. Glad we still have Paul rockin, and Ringo is still having fun being Ringo. What great music the 4 lads from Liverpool gave us that is still as fresh today as it was back in the 60's.

  • greenspirit Dec 18, 2012 @ 4:22 pm
I've gone from vinyl to tape to disk to MP3. The music sounds as good now as it did 50 years ago.
  • Dec 17, 2012 @ 2:07 pm

  • Monte Nov 27, 2012 @ 6:21 pm
I have an album that has a number of bands on it including Rory Storm and the Hurricanes and several others. It also has the Beatles long before they got famous. They might even be listed as the Silver Beatles. It's packed away right now so I can;t give you the exact title. ANy thoughts on what something like this might be worth?
  • LindaJM Nov 27, 2012 @ 8:54 pm
I have no idea. As with most used objects, an album is worth whatever you can get for it.
  • imagary29 Nov 27, 2012 @ 5:33 pm
Thanks for the lens. Music would not be the same without these four guys.
  • PeteSchultz Nov 27, 2012 @ 1:49 pm
You brought back many memories. I could listen to my beatles albums over and over again...and if I still had a functional turntable I would still be doing it! I have most on cassette, yet another outdated technology, and not nearly as good a reproduction as the vinyl it was recorded from. Thanks for the memories.
  • Michael_Oksa Nov 24, 2012 @ 10:32 am
I am a HUGE music buff, and love all forms of rock music from the 1950s to today, but the Beatles are still my favorite band by far. Great lens! (Bonus points for including both U.S. and British releases.)
